PHILIPPINE STICK, KNIFE AND EMPTY HAND FIGHTING

Arnis, as taught at the Karate Quest school, is a martial art that can stand on its own, or, as your skill levels improve, can easily be blended or incorporated into the other martial arts styles that are taught at Karate Quest. Its origins are difficult to trace, because there is primarily a diffrent style of stick fighting for every island in the Philippines. The Philippine fighting arts also have many names: escrima, kali, arnis and more. Modern Arnis was brought to the USA by its founder Prof. Remy Amador Presas. John Quest, Warren Young, Jeremy Alderman, and Charlotte Marcum were fortunate to have trained in seminars or camps with Grand Master Presas. After the death of Professor Presas, they continued their training under the supervision of Bruce Chiu, founder of Arnis International and other Filipino martial arts instructors.
